hello good customers…

i’m going to take a little break from making carriers. i set them all as “out of stock” on the website, but may be open to custom orders on a limited basis in the next few months. do not hesitate to contact me via email, or to peruse the photos on the website to see what you might like to order in the future- they are not going away forever. i will very likely be restocking this section of the shop over the winter months, so fear not! these carriers have been wildly popular (hence, none in stock…) and i want to make sure i am continuing to put my best energy into making them, and this little rest will ensure that.

look for more activity here in the coming months as well… fall and winter are sewing seasons for me, and i always like to share what i’m working on. right now i am gearing up for some fitted diaper and wool longie work, and will be participating in a giveaway for wool week (end of october) on that mama gretchen‘s blog. be sure to get in on the giveaway!

newborn is supposedly a size, but i think it is more a state of mind. i happened to have had a newborn infant who could not wear the size known as newborn. nevertheless, he was a new as they come. only bigger. 11 pounds and 15 ounces- bigger than my friends’ twin daughters’ birth weights put together! and most definitely preferring 3-6 month clothing and cloth diapers.

i am now going to break my own rule. there shall be newborn size earth huggy diapers, even though i have not had the opportunity to use them on my own child. (my rule has been that i only sell things i have used!) however, i am planning on using these on a few newborn friends i’m expecting in the next few months.

also, i decided to stop depriving myself the cuteness- these are just about as cute as can be, and really, really fun to sew, and arrange in the leaves to photograph, and touch, and balance in the palm of my hand… can you believe an actual human being is small enough to fit inside this diaper?!

there are now newborn sized fitteds available in the shop in many different prints and solid colors. let me know if you’re looking for newborn all-in-ones: depending on interest, they can be arranged!

i said “around noon” so i am announcing this a little late… got sidetracked photographing some new diapers out at the beach. they’re not listed yet so stay tuned but check out this seagull who wanted in on the photographing action!

isn’t this a fun summery print for the middle of january?! i’ll post once this print (and its green/blue cousin) have been listed. i’m thinking of names having to do with being airborne- like the seagull, or the diaper itself, before i stuck my car keys inside it to weigh it down! brrr strong wind! now i’m going to enjoy my cup of clam chowder and warm up. thanks again everyone! more fun giveaways to come soon so keep your eye on us over here on the coast.

earth huggy is proud to introduce a new line of wooden toys, beginning with box of rain and little seed rattles. these handcrafted cedar wood rattles are a great gift, and a wonderful first musical instrument for a little person! they are made locally in newport, oregon, by pangaea woodworks, a green-minded business who is delighted to be putting their smaller wood scraps (from instrument making and boat building) to wonderful use as wooden toys. look for toy boats in the future, i have requested some and hope they will materialize, as i think they will be a big hit!

both rattles make a wonderful rain-like sound when shaken, and are finished with organic olive oil and beeswax. they are the perfect size for little people, lightweight, and fit comfortably in the hands of moms and dads too, given a generously sized grip. these rattles are available for sale both in the store here, and in the etsy storefront. speaking of etsy, i have slowly been working up to adding some more items to etsy… stay tuned for some super unique tie dye fitted diapers, as well as some ultra-hip and one of a kind carrier styles!

to kick off the big day, i’m showing off some new designs here- fitted diapers, in fresh tie dye designs.

while each one fits as snugly and trimly as the rest, each one is absolutely unique! i have hand dyed the outer organic cotton interlock using low impact dyes, then incorporated it into the earth huggy fitted diaper style. earth huggy fitted diapers are turned and top-stitched, and the elastic is fitted just right so they lay snugly but never cause owies! the inner fabric is organic cotton flannel. snap closures. snap-in insert contains 2 serged 3-layer panels stitched at one end.

these diapers are ideal for wool cover/longie users, very absorbent and fitted just right around the legs and waist. also great for part time EC, and for use with other diaper cover styles. available in small, one size, and large. (contact me for additional sizing options.) large and one size diapers are exactly the same size, but given slightly different snap configurations, enabling the diapers you will potty train out of to be used on someone tiny. there are many pros and cons to buying one size diapers, between cost and fit, but as far as durability goes, earth huggy dipes are made to last for the long haul.

tie dye earth huggy dipes come in two color combos (photos are representative- given the nature of the craft of tie dying, each individual cut of fabric captures its own unique and wonderful variation!)

green smoothie – kale, orange juice, and a handful of blueberries. fresher than fresh.

fruity booty – berries and citrus, swirled together to create one vibrant diaper.
