thoughtfully engineered – through trial and error while developing baby gear that would work reliably and durably for my own parenting journey. the arts of cloth diapering and babywearing reach back into timelessness, and yet there is always room for ingenuity. earth huggy products are my original design variations on themes that tie us to generations of humans from long ago, and this blending of old and new ways continues to be a source of inspiration for me.
sustainable – on every step of the journey, i’ve been asking questions about the sustainability of my actions and seeking out ways of minimizing my footprint just a bit more. learning about the origins of the materials i buy, i strive to support companies who believe in transparency, environmental integrity, and social justice, and attempt to buy as locally as i can. it has become a dance of creativity, and a source of intellectual stimulation for me, since many of those factors end up having to be balanced and weighed carefully to come up with the best combination of tradeoffs for the environment. as you browse this site, you can rest assured that the servers chugging away for the web host i utilize are powered by clean, renewable wind energy. did you know that was possible? because i didn’t until quite recently, and am continually awed by the forward-thinking ingenuity of individuals who are committed to saving the planet. i am inspired by the things i have learned, especially when i have been pleasantly surprised to find my questions answered with some ready solutions!
hand crafted – these products are my artwork. i have such a good time sewing, and am so happy to be at a place in my life where i am so tied to my creative nature, literally creating every single day. each item is carefully crafted by me. i make every effort to see that in areas of quality and durability, each customer is getting the best of the best, while still delivering a product that is a unique treasure for your family. when it comes to babies, we all understand the desire to give the very best, provide the very purest, most meaningful baby gear we can. they are tiny for such a short time, and it is such an important part of life’s journey.
earthy – you have a lot of choices in the baby gear market. if you feel overwhelmed like i did, take a minute to think of where your priorities for your child lie. ask questions like i have, strive to know exactly what materials are being used, inside and outside of each product you consider, and you may find your choices (conveniently?) narrowed down. i strive to be as transparent as possible about my products (if there is something you don’t see information about and want to know, please ask!) our job as consumers is to keep businesses honest, and encourage them to work ever harder to protect our earth.
colorful – sustainable doesn’t mean boring! this is my second year in business, and i am just now starting to feel like i can really get creative with colors and prints, now that website design, product development, and my first year of farmer’s market activity are wrapped up. keep your eye out for some wonderful new splashes of color in the next few months!
